What's new in Lakes & Trails Your own hiking score The weather page now shows a Hiking Score out of 100 for the day on the fells. Tap it to see how each part of the weather scores. Choose Standard, Fair-weather walker or Hardy fell walker, or set your own ideal temperature, wind, rain and views. My gear (new, free) Photograph your kit and the app cuts out the background for you. Add weights and see your base weight and what's on your back. Find it on the You page or in Settings. More routes New routes from local walker @frenchy_runs_the_lakes, including Skiddaw from High Side, the Central Fells from Wythburn, Blea Tarn and Lingmoor Fell, Buttermere and Crummock Water, Branstree and Selside Pike, and the huge Patterdale Parish Boundary. Helvellyn via Striding Edge is also now in the app. High Spy in 3D See the summit of High Spy as a real 3D model. Zoom in near High Spy on the map and tap "High Spy in 3D", or open it from the High Spy fell page. Needs iOS 26 or later. Safer route pages Clear safety warnings on serious routes, "Good to know" advice where a route needs it, and new route photos with credits. Faster and smoother Route and fell pages open and scroll more smoothly. Photos use far less memory. The Start walk button no longer gets stuck halfway up the screen. Less data The weather is saved on your phone and only downloaded again when there's a new forecast. That saves mobile data when signal is weak on the fells. Plus lots of small fixes.
