GitDrive is more secure now! You can push the content to your repository via https, which is implemented by a self-signed X509 certificate that will be generated during first lanuch, this means each device will have its own X509 certificate. You can also export the X509 certificate from GitDrive and trust it in the system where the git client is installed.
