このバージョンから日本語圏だけでなく英語圏での使用を可能にし、KDIGO 2021 CKDガイドラインで推奨されたCKDの末期腎不全への進行リスクを非北米人用のKFRE式で知ることにより、腎臓専門医への紹介や多職種チームによる腎代替療法予防外来への紹介、腎代替療法の選択のタイミングを知ることができます。またIgA腎症に特化した予後予測式では、低リスク例での過剰な免疫抑制療法を避け、逆に高リスク例では積極的な治療を開始するタイミングを知ることができます。また2021CKD-EPIによる推算GFRの新しい式では、全人種や体格の偏る人により正確なGFRを示します。特に尿所見を伴わないGFR60近辺の患者に有用で過剰な診断を予防することができます。
